DPF Baking

Precision DPF Services also uses the Filtertherm DPF Baking Regeneration Oven, also known as a bake process, which allows our team to offer a superior thermal cleaning processes as this oven is specifically designed for DPF cleaning unlike most DPFS in the market are baked in ovens based on kilns.

The baking cleaning process is also commonly referred to as “bake and blow” involves baking the DPF filter in an oven which oxidizes the soot, then uses air to force the ash out of the filter. While our primary methodology for cleaning is the Aqueous system, a DPF may need to be baked in the oven due to an excessively high amount of wet soot, unburned hydrocarbons, or due to signs of other contamination found in the inspection process. Baking the DPF will regenerate the debris that cannot otherwise be effectively removed via Aqueous alone.

This is determined in the inspection process. If a bake is required due to contamination, there is an extra cost applied. If baking is necessary to simply clean the DPF to desired airflow, then there is no additional cost. The Filtertherm DPF Baking Regeneration Oven is specifically designed for this task. The oven is programmed to ramp up the temperature at a rate that will not damage the substrate of any DPF – allowing for controlled regeneration of the DPF. As temperature increases, the DPF will start its own regeneration process. Once complete, the unit is blown out and tested again. In some cases, the unit may be returned to the Aqueous process for final cleaning.
