Frequently Asked Questions

  • Manufacturers suggest a service interval of about 200,000 miles or 6,000 hours of service. However, waiting this long could cause premature failures and/or loss of regeneration and thrust, putting the engine into ‘limp’ mode resulting in unplanned downtime for maintenance or worse-the expense, extended downtime, and loss of revenue from an unplanned repair. . Industry experts agree, the recommendation is to service your DPF once a year or every 75,000 miles to prevent large amounts of hardened ash from accumulating-making complete removal of this material difficult and cleaning less likely. Depending on the amount of travel as well and time spent idling in traffic, this will create more soot and ash potentially reducing your service interval to 6 months. Ultimately, your service intervals can vary depending on your vehicle’s duty cycle.

  • Absolutely! Gaskets heat up and become brittle over time so it’s always best practice to replace with each cleaning or replacement of your DPF filter. Clamps also go through constant heat and cool cycles and road vibrations which degrade their mechanical performance over time. More importantly, they help secure your DPF to the rest of your aftertreatment components and help prevent exhaust leaks which can lead to other unwanted issues.

  • No. We offer replacement bungs and our trained technicians will weld a new one on your existing DPF.

  • Yes. We have partnered with Redline Emission Products and carry a wide range of aftermarket EGT, NOx, 02, and Pressure sensors. All sensors are OEM or better quality to ensure performance and exact fit. All sensors are backed by a 1- Year Warranty. If your specific part is not in stock, we can order and have it delivered withing 2-3 business days.

  • At Precision DPF Services, we understand not every DPF can be cleaned. If we have to deliver the news of a needed replacement, we will come to you with the solution in hand. We carry a wide range of aftermarket DPF and DOC replacements from Redline Emission Products that are built to meet OEM specs and work seamlessly with other emission components. Each DPF and DOC comes with matching replacements gaskets and come with a 2-year unlimited mileage and manufacturer warranty. If your specific part is not in stock, we can order and have it delivered within 2-3 business days.

  • This can depend on multiple factors. Our trained technicians perform a visual inspection and performance test on every DPF upon arrival. If there are any visible cracks on the inlet side, we will not clean your DPF, but rather will recommend replacement. Also, if soot or other collected material has passed through and is visible on the outlet side, this usually indicates there is internal damage. We will not clean your DPF, but rather will recommend replacement.. If you’re unsure of the current condition of the DPF- we’ve got you covered. Let us look at your filter and we can do an inspection for you free of charge.

  • 1. Pre-Inspection and Benchmark Testing: Each filter undergoes a pre-clean inspection to determine evidence of damage and prevailing issues including but not limited to:

    • Wire/pin test for plugged cells as needed.

    • Measurement of the existing pre-cleaning airflow of the filter

    • Weight measurement of the filter.

    • Light pass-through test to ensure there is no internal damage of filter.

    2. Documentation & Recording: Using a third-party proprietary system, all filter visual and benchmark test results are recorded into the FilterTrack software along with before pictures.

    3. Cleaning Begins! Once a filter passes inspection, we begin the cleaning process. The countdown to a quality clean begins!

    • Pre-Soak: Using a specially formulated surfactant which loosens the particulates in the filter.

    • Wash: An automated, laser-guided machine cleans the filter by traversing the filter face which is safe and clean both for the filter and the environment.

    • Fast Dry: Using our high-velocity dryer, heated air is delivered through the filter allowing drying time to be completed.

    4. Post Clean Inspection & Testing: Rinse and repeat! No pun intended. Each filter repeats the Visual Inspection and Benchmark processes after each clean including but not limited to:

    • Wire/pin test for plugged cells as needed.

    • Measurement and comparison of the post-clean airflow to determine and report the effectiveness of the clean.

    • Measure and comparison of the cleaned filter weight to see just how much soot was removed.

    5. Documentation and Recording: Using a third-party proprietary system, all post-clean filter visual and benchmark test results are recorded into the FilterTrack software along with before and after pictures. Your DPF Filter is then logged as ready for pickup or return delivery! Every DPF filter is returned with a full documentation packet with all pre and post-clean inspection results.
